Challenge

The Artist Bothy at Comielaw Farm on the Balcaskie Estate was a pioneer project for Bothy Stores using ground screw foundations. Low-impact, sustainable building materials are fundamental to Bothy Stores' ethos.

It was also a first for No More Digging, working with this specific lightweight floor cassette system developed by Bothy Stores in collaboration with BlokBuild.

Consideration was given to the surrounding area and the importance of streamlining installation with minimum impact on the existing landscape.

Solution

Close communication and planning with Bobby @BothyStores gained an understanding of the Artist Bothy structure and requirements for its foundations.

Keeping with the principles of simple, sustainable and minimum environmental impact, No More Digging installed eight RADIX Professional RF200 76x1550mm Ground Screws, which provided a level platform for the Bothy to be installed.

Ground screws were inserted using our portable handheld machine, ensuring no damage to the landscape with heavy plant machinery.

Very impressed with the ground screw foundations by No More Digging! Saves time, money and takes away the mess of digging and concrete. Excellent foundation solution for the Artist Bothy.
