off-grid log cabin on ground screw foundations

Challenge

This project required access over rough grounds within a remote location of the Scottish Borders. Additionally, it needed all materials and installation equipment to be transported by hand to each plot.

Ground conditions were made of peat formations, requiring ground screws to be installed to greater depths of between 3.1m and 4.1m across both plots to achieve good load-bearing capacity and stability.

Solution

Ground screws were installed using our portable handheld turning machines, offering the flexibility and capacity to install each cabin’s foundations to the required depths in this remote location without disruption to the surrounding landscape.

The client was able to begin building the bespoke off-grid cabins immediately after the successful installation of the foundations.
