Challenge

Green Energy Systems Engineering required foundations for a 130-panel solar array situated on a floodplain bordering the River Thames.

To comply with flood-risk requirements, the lowest point of the solar panels had to be at least 900 mm above ground level, resulting in a finished height exceeding 3.6 metres at the tallest point.

This presented a structural challenge in maintaining both the desired 30-degree pitch and the required elevation while ensuring long-term stability in soft ground conditions.

Solution

Our installation team supplied and installed 54 no. RADIX PRO Ground Screws (1550 mm) combined with the RADIX SolarMount racking system, creating a strong, durable, and precisely level base to support the elevated structure.

The SolarMount system provides an optimised layout for a range of solar PV panels, delivering structural rigidity while keeping material and installation costs low.

In addition to the foundation and racking work, our team also installed all 130 solar panels, leaving the system ready for the electrical contractor to complete final connections.

Despite the site’s restricted access and challenging ground profile, the full installation was completed in just five days, including final levelling and site preparation.
