No More Digging North East England recently completed the installation of ground screw foundations for a new Custom Garden Rooms showroom development at Hemel Hempstead Garden Centre, with the finished project now featured in a newly released RADIX project video.
The development includes six garden room display buildings alongside a dedicated showroom office, creating a fully finished space where visitors can explore a range of buildings from a Gym, Golf Simulator, Beauty Treatment and an Annexe.
Working alongside RADIX and the Custom Garden Rooms team, No More Digging North East England installed the ground screw foundations across the site using compact hand-held installation equipment. The installation phase took approximately one week to complete, despite challenging February weather conditions including heavy rain, mud, and waterlogged ground.
The project highlighted several of the key advantages of ground screw foundations for commercial garden room developments. Installation was completed with minimal disruption using only a van and trailer, with no need for large excavators, concrete deliveries, or extensive groundwork. The Garden Centre remained fully operational
throughout the works, allowing normal customer access and trading to continue uninterrupted.
The RADIX ground screw system was perfect for this project due to its speed, reliability, and adaptability across the different building sizes and loading requirements involved within the development. Foundations were engineered to support the required point loads while reducing mess, No removal of soils, ground disturbance, and programme delays often associated with traditional concrete bases.
Following completion of the foundation installation, the Custom Garden Rooms team carried out the wider construction, landscaping, planting, and interior fit-out works, with the full showroom development completed in approximately three months.
