The No More Digging Wales team has successfully delivered a striking project that demonstrates the power of ground screws in even the most challenging environments.
Working within a delicate wetland, the team constructed a 125-metre recycled-plastic boardwalk seamlessly linked to a 25-metre steel bridge, designed to integrate naturally with the surrounding landscape.
Every stage of the build was guided by sustainability and care for the environment. Recycled-plastic decking and eco-friendly materials were chosen to minimise impact, while specialist cutting stations ensured debris was captured before it could enter the swamp. Compression testing was carried out to meet engineering requirements, and ground screws were installed directly into the swamp and water, leaving the area exactly as it was found.
The result is a durable, low-maintenance structure with a far longer lifespan than timber or concrete posts, providing a future-proof solution that will serve the community and protect the environment for years to come.
Importantly, the project was delivered in all weather conditions without delay, proving that ground screws offer not just sustainability, but also speed, reliability, and resilience.
This boardwalk is a clear example of how No More Digging’s ground screw foundations can unlock sustainable solutions in sensitive environments, with precision, performance, and environmental responsibility at the core.
