Challenge
Operating a stunning yet challenging 18-hole course, Baberton Golf Club is located on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland. Aiming to support their members with the very best in coaching and custom fit facilities, they contacted urbanpods to construct a golf simulator that would match the club.
The site contained drainage lines requiring consideration during the testing, planning and installation of foundations.
A foundation solution that would allow delivery within a tight programme of work and avoid any delay due to bad weather was required.
Solution
Our team first attended Baberton Golf Club in August 2022, conducting ground tests to determine the specification of ground screw foundations required for the project. RADIX PRO 76x2050mm Ground Screws were installed and tested in excess of 90kN, successfully achieving the project engineers load bearing requirements for the main structure.
The installation of 18 no. 76x2050mm RADIX PRO Ground Screws for the pod were completed rapidly, with a further 10 no. 76x1250mm Ground Screws installed for extended decking areas. Work was completed in November 2022, achieved with the assistance of our powerful hydraulic installation rig, REX.
Construction of Baberton Gold Club's new golf simulator started immediately upon the installation, allowing urbanpods to maintain their programme of work.
